Anonymous asked:
why are some of my fellow bellamy fans so ignorant? it hurts. that post that the anon showed you literally disgusted me... I can't take this. Clarke did what she had to do. I'm not understanding why people blame her for it.

scoutarchive-deactivated2015062:

The majority of the fandom will always worship Bellamy and if Bellamy is hurt or disagreed with by Clarke they will always blame Clarke. Why do people blame her for it? Well that is all thanks to this little thing called internalized misogyny. Unfortunately, because Bellamy is an attractive male that girls can lust after and call a cute puppy and whatever else they do, they will always take his side over Clarke’s regardless of narrative logic or reasoning.

This reminds me of something I ran into while trolling twitter last night. A girl was tweeting about how she hates Clarke and how she doesn’t like that Clarke gets to be in charge and not Bellamy. She then proceeded to say a few tweets later that despite all of this, she still ships Bellamy and Clarke and doesn’t understand why they can’t be together. At first I was pretty confused. Why do you want a ship to be together if you vocally hate one character? And I realized that Clarke is irrelevant to viewers like this. Society has fed us story after story of this girl or that girl being swept of their feet by any type of guy you can name. The character of the girl doesn’t matter because the female audience wants to fall in love with the boy, and feel like that girl and have that opportunity and sigh over it. Now, that isn’t to say that it isn’t perfectly acceptable to want to to watch cheesey romance and male heroes and imagine yourself being that girl. Go for it. Do that all day every day if it truly makes you happy. What I am going to say though, is that that concept takes a turn for the nasty when viewers who love those male characters and want that love story aren’t given what they want. Especially in Clarke’s case. They’re not used to a female who doesn’t need the rescue or a female that isn’t there to fall in love with that boy or who has a huge story that exists outside of the relationship they want. They’re not used to a female character who is the sole person making the choices or deciding who to sacrifice or having her broody hero moments. They hate Clarke because suddenly the romance they want to have isn’t that easy thing they’ve been fed before. These people, ultimately don’t actually want Bellamy and Clarke like they think they do. They want Bellamy. They’re used to a female protagonist that does a few things here and there that they can safely put with the boy they want and feel happy. Clarke doesn’t give them that.

This got a little off topic but IMO, I don’t trust fans that claim to like Bellamy/Clarke and hate on Clarke. I don’t trust fans that never look into the narrative choices or why Clarke does the things she does, simply because they don’t care about the why and care only about the guy.
